
MERCURY PACKAGING APPOINTSMick Mee brings extensive print experience to new roleLeading UK manufacturer of innovative flexible packaging solutions, Mercury Packaging ,has made three new appointments at its Kirkby-in-Ashfield site as part of an ongoing restructuring programme designed to facilitate future expansion. Well-known in the packaging and print industries, Mick Mee, has joined the Nottinghamshire-based company as its new Pre-Press Manager. Mee, who has worked within the print trade for more than 30 years, was mostly recently Print Department Manager at Amcor Flexibles. His extensive knowledge, combined with a keen interest in the development and implementation of new and different technology at the leading edge of the print process, was key to his appointment at Mercury. Another new appointment is Scott Fretwell who will take over as Warehouse Manager. Scott’s previous experience includes five years as the Warehouse Manager at flexible packaging company, Britton Polylope, as well as time at Britton Transrap. In addition, Tim Hill has been appointed as a new Production Planner. Before joining Mercury, he worked for box manufacturer Charapak in a similar position. Prior to that, he spent 18 years with Amcor Flexibles as Print & Conversion Planner. Tony Stanger, Mercury’s Managing Director, commented: “We are focused on achieving ongoing growth for our business as well as on improving standards across the products and services we offer. These appointments are designed to strengthen our in-house team and I am confident that they will play a large part in helping us to achieve our goals.” Mercury Packaging offers a diverse range of printing capabilities up to 1250mm wide with 330mm to 750mm design repeat in up to eight colours. It allows printing and lamination to a broad range of material substrates including polypropylene (PP) and biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP). Speciality inks Established in 1999, Mercury Packaging employs over 50 people at its site in Kirkby-in-Ashfield and now boasts an annual turnover of approximately £6.2million. It is an independent business working to stringent quality protocols with many of its products carrying technical accreditations. The company has invested for maximum operating efficiencies with production, printing and warehousing facilities geared to support efficient supply chain management service and significant future growth.
